Music is ubiquitous. For example, many languages or dialects speak in rhythmic patterns. And if you ever sat quietly in a remote forest you've heard natures own rendition.
My musical tastes are eclectic. From Bach to B.B. The greatest appreciation though are for the composers of movie scores. The would include Alan Silvestri, Dave Grusin, James Newton Howard and more. Creating the proper emotion/mood for a film is a gift. Below are a few examples. Of course, Bill Evans is usually included in any of my playlists.
Mountain Dance - From the 1984 film with Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep, Falling in Love. Music by Dave Grusin.
Pat Metheny - Always a musical journey. Minuano (six eight). Minuano - Portuguese for a cold southwesterly wind that blows in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Bill Evans - Legendary Jazz Pianist - From the 1972 Grammy winner album, The Bill Evans Album. Waltz for Debby
Grand Canyon - A 1991 American drama film directed and produced by Lawrence Kasdan, and written by Kasdan with his wife Meg. Featuring an ensemble cast, the film is about random events affecting a diverse group of people, exploring the race - and class-imposed chasms which separate members of the same community. My top 5 of movies to see. Music by James Newton Howard
Legendary Oscar Peterson - The Dick Cavett Show. A short piano lesson.
The Walk. Film based on the true story of high-wire walker Philippe Petit attempt to walk between the north and south towers of the World Trade Center on Aug. 7, 1974. Music by Alan Silvesti.
The Wisdom and Teachings of Stephen R. Covey
"Most people do not listen.....to understand; they listen with the intent to reply. They are either speaking or preparing to speak.....filtering their own paradigms, reading their own autobiography into other people's lives."
Falling Upward: A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life
"A perfect person...one who can consciously forgive...include imperfection..rather one who thinks they are totally above and beyond imperfection."
Words for Mitch Albom - One of my most admired individuals. A true philanthropist, with nearly a dozen charities and The Have Faith Haiti Mission & Orphanage. Internationally renowned and best-selling author, journalist, screenwriter, playwright, radio and television broadcaster and musician. His books (My best reads: Finding Chika, The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto, Have a Little Faith, Tuesdays with Morrie) have collectively sold more than 40 million copies worldwide; have been published in 49 territories and in 47 languages around the world; and have been made into Emmy Award-winning and critically-acclaimed television movies. (Tuesday's with Morrie, starring Jack Lemon).
